THE BLACK CAUCUS

OF CENTRAL OHIO

Welcome to the Black Caucus of Central Ohio website

SOLVE BLACK PROBLEMS

Real Black problem solving is nonexistent because it does not fall within the purview of certain
political parties or powerful economic groups. Instead of real problem solving, Black people get
political pacification programs like short term grants and contracts, celebrity status,
appointments, and positions, which amount to no more than tokens of change or symbols over
substance.

Therefore, decades of unsettled issues fester, creating a multiplicity of unsolved Black problems.
Unsolved problems like Black family income in Columbus and Franklin County, are slightly
more than half the income of white families. Black people continue to live in zip codes which are
or fast becoming economically abandoned wastelands.

Black populaces have higher rates of unemployment, and poverty, live in unaffordable housing,
impoverished, dangerous gun violence and physically deteriorating communities. Black children
attend the worst performing schools in F-graded publicly financed education systems.
Black communities do not have adequate and get prompt city services. Black residents, due to a
lack of affordable transportation, shop at dingy inferior stores. They suffer from increasing crime
rates, injustice issues with law enforcement and the courts, massive substance abuse and
addiction, mental health and much more.
